Elektrosmog-Report: Verschwiegene ICNIRP-Mitglieder (Allgemein)

"Am 17. Juli 2012 schreibt Leszczynski unter "In Expert We Trust" über die zweifelhafte Auswahl von "Experten" und die Etablierung von Expertengremien. Er beschreibt sie als private Clubs, in denen die Mitglieder alle derselben Meinung sind. Der Meinungsführende Club ist die ICNIRP, deren Mitglieder verschweigen, dass sie Kontakt zur Industrie haben."

Das erste was auffällt ist: Leszczynski spricht nicht von "Clubs", sondern von einem "Club", nämlich der ICNIRP.

Der erste Satz aus dem Elektrosmogreport würde passen, denn Leszczynski setzt sich in seinem Artikel mit vier - sicherlich unterschiedlich einflussreichen - Gremien auseinander. ICNIRP, IEEE (ICES), ICEMS und Bioinitiative.
(Und ja, Leszczynski ist ein Kritiker der ICNIRP)

Einen Link auf Leszczynski Blog gibt es z.B. auch im Gigaherz und zwar mit einer mMn nach bewusst irreführenden Überschrift. Auf keiner Seite las ich nämlich bisher was Leszczynski zu ICEMS und Bioinitiative schreibt.

Scientists, dissatisfied with the dominance of ICNIRP and ICES formed groups that were to prepare science evaluations that would counter-balance the dominating opinions of ICNIRP and ICES.
The general idea of providing counter-balances and was good, but they (scientists) made similar mistake as ICNIRP and ICES/IEEE – they formed groups of scientists with the same opinions and the selection criteria are largely arbitrary and unknown.
The composition of the groups most noted in news-media and by politicians, BioInitiative and ICEMS (International Committee on Electro-Magnetic Safety), clearly shows that the members have the same scientific opinions. No scientific challenge come from within the group, meaning no real scientific debate.
Also, while complaining about the conflict of interest within ICNIRP and ICES, these counter-balancing groups did not avoid conflict of interest of their own – e.g. BioInitiative was set-up and is led by person who has a company providing for a fee services protecting from EMF exposures

Das angebliche "Verschweigen" von Industriekontakten liest sich bei Leszczynski jedoch anders: "One of the perpetual complaints about ICNIRP members is that they have links to industry and that they have hidden conflict of interest."
Was das für verdeckten Interessenkonflikte seien sollen, sagt der Finne allerdings nicht, möglicherweise meint er denVorfall um Anders Ahlbom, der 2011 Wellen schlug.

Nein, meint er nicht.
Was er meint, erklärt er einen Satz weiter nach dem von Ihnen zitierten Satz.

Indeed, some ICNIRP members were (are?) sitting on the scientific advisory boards of electric utilities companies of providers of telecommunication services

Denn auf der Website der ICNIRP gibt es explizit zu diesem Punkt eine eigene Seite, auf der die berufliche Karriere und die DOI (Erklärung zu Interessenkonflikten) für jedermann ersichtlich ist. Das ist zum Teufel nochmal vorbildlich, denn wer hier lügt ist dran. So viel Transparenz findet man bei keiner einzigen Organisation der Mobilfunkgegner. Warum wohl nicht?!

Zu den Erklärungen von Interessenkonflikten gibt es im Blog von Leszczynski auch eine Aussage.

To remedy this problem, after years of delay, and to avoid false accusations, as of recently ICNIRP's Main Commission members fill out the conflict of interest statements and these, in scanned format, are available on the Main Commission’s website.
Reading these statements shows that there are no strict rules about what information should be included in the conflict of interest statements. For example, some scientists list projects with partial industry funding as a potential source of conflict of interest whereas others, known to have same kind of grants partly funded by the industry, completely omit such information. It suggests that there are no strict rules, and whatever ICNIRP members write and submit is not checked for accuracy and correctness

Der Vollständigkeit halber noch zu IEEE (ICES) (dort war Leszczynski Mitglied, bis er 2009 zurücktrat).

Membership of ICES is vastly dominated by the scientists employed by the industry, and ICES openly discloses this. The problem is, however, how reliable evaluation of science is when made by predominantly industry-affiliated scientists dealing with the issue of safety of the industrial product. There is clear, and not hidden in any way by ICES, conflict of interest. What is also public knowledge is that the chair of the sub-committee that prepares recommendations for safety standards for the cell phones is a scientist employed by the US cell phone manufacturer.
It means that in the USA the evaluation of health risks and development of appropriate safety standards is prepared in the USA by industry scientists under direction of cell phone manufacturer's scientist. The proposed safety standards are then voted by ICES members. Few dissenting opinions, like mine, do not matter.

Ich schätze Darius Leszczynski für seine unbequemen Kommentare, mit denen er sich gegen vorherrschende Meinungen stemmt

Ich auch und zwar wegen den unbequemen Kommentaren in beide Richtungen.
Eigentlich der Mobilfunk“kritiker“ mit Hirn und Verstand.
Allerdings, der mMn undankbarste Job in dieser ganzen Debatte. Hier bezieht man Prügel von beiden Seiten und die bezieht er tatsächlich. Lassen wir mal völlig außer Acht, ob jemand finanzielle Entlohnung für seine Dienste erhält, hier gibt’s auch keine Lobby, die einem auf die Schulter klopft.
Man kann ihn und seine Argumentation nur auszugsweise zweckentfremden, wie es der Elektrosmogreport z.B. tut. Und erfahrungsgemäß prüfen die allerwenigsten die Originalquelle nach, vor allen Dingen dann nicht, wenn es ins Meinungsbild passt.

und sich z.B. - ein heißes Eisen - über die Kronzeugen der Mobilfunkgegner, die überzeugten Elektrosensiblen, kritisch äußert. Seinen Beitrag “In Experts We Trust” …or should we? werde ich jedoch als Streichergebnis vormerken, denn er kann es mMn weitaus besser.

Wenn der erste Satz maßgeblich ist für Ihre Wertschätzung seiner Person, dann haben Sie ihn und was er schreibt nicht weiter verfolgt und es gibt dann ganz sicher für Sie noch mehr "Streichergebnisse".
